Session

In my photo sessions I strive to record candids of children, families and couples having a playful engaging experience. Since children cannot really be directed I just watch and wait for the adorable moments to unfold. I enjoy family bonding time, and capturing the sweet moments of your family on camera. I will provide you with minimal posing ideas, simply observing your family interactions and looking for the silly faces, smiles, laughter, spontaneity and personalities. For these sessions, ideally you should keep clothing simple, comfortable and flattering! Avoid loud, busy patterns or shirts that have logos as they distract from your beautiful family. Layers and textured pieces are always nice. Fun and funky clothing can also be adorable and I encourage clothing changes. Jeans and khaki pants are a timeless look & are extremely casual. For family photos, coordinating clothing is nice but not necessary. If you like how your clothes look and feel, it will show in your photos.

Newborn photo shoots should ideally be done in the first TWO WEEKS if possible to capture them at their sleepy, crinkly-cute best! I have lots of props available, but your special blankets or accessories are always welcome. Clothing is also welcome, but usually infants are photographed in the nude. I shoot newborns with natural light, for a soft appearance. I bring my mini “studio”, set up and shoot photos all in the comfort of your home. As a mother of three little kids, I know a lot about babies! I work quickly to keep them calm and asleep, and most of all I am aware that babies need food and snuggles with mom, so we take lots of breaks.

For outdoor locations, early morning light, as well as the “golden hour” evening light provides that beautiful, soft look desired for your photos. In addition. the earlier or later in the day you go, the less crowded your location will be.

Prior to your session, we will discuss the look your family would like to achieve, and any locations you might prefer. My favorite spots include Morro Bay, Cayucos pier, local parks and vineyards along the Central Coast.
